Dog Parks & Dog Beaches in Pinellas
Your guide to off-leash dog parks in the St. Pete-Clearwater area
Finding a list of all the dog parks in Pinellas County is surprisingly harder to do than it should be. Since Pinellas is composed of 24 separate municipalities, each maintains their own websites & park lists.
To save you the trouble of sorting through to find the actual dog parks, we’ve done the research for you. And since St. Pete-Clearwater is home to some beautiful beaches, we’ve also include dog beaches, where dogs can play in the surf.
When I personally search for dog parks near me, the results will show basically every park with the checkmark “dogs allowed.” However, “dogs allowed” is definitely not the same as off-leash, fenced in dog parks. Our baby deeply loves puppies so I wanted a good list of nearby dog parks we could go to to watch dogs run around.
Below you’ll find a comprehensive list of the dog parks and dog beaches that Pinellas county has to offer. You’ll find the dog parks organized by town to help you quickly find the dog parks closest to you.
Let’s find your dog’s new favorite dog park!

Dog Parks in Clearwater
CREST LAKE PARK
The Crest Lake Dog Park has three separate fenced in areas for all dogs, small dogs and large dogs. Plus they have areas to rinse the dogs off. We visit to watch the dogs whenever we go to the splash pad and there are always dogs playing at the park and nice tree shade.
NORTHEAST PARK PAW PLACE
ENTERPRISE DOG PARK
When we went to visit this dog park on a weekend afternoon, it was bumping. There were lots of dogs out, so much so that there were only a handful of parking spaces left. There is shade, water fountains, obstacles and a hiking trail too.
SAND KEY PARK
We visited Sand Key Park on a Saturday morning and there was tons of available parking, much easier than parking elsewhere on Clearwater Beach.
Dog Parks in St. Pete
Note that many of the dog parks run by the city of St. Pete may close a couple hours per week for cleaning and maintenance, with their schedule available on this website.
DOG BAR (private dog park + bar!)
This off-leash dog park is unique because it is also a bar! It also requires membership, though they have day passes for $7. You can also get an annual membership and there is a discount rate for multiple dogs.

We recently visited John Chestnut Park on a weekday morning around 9:15 and the dog park was bumping. There were a number of dogs out playing together in a nice big fenced area.
Dog Parks in Dunedin
ACHIEVA PAW PARK
Dunedin doesn’t yet have it’s own dog parks on public city land (source), so the Achieva Paw Park is a public-private partnership to fill this void.
They have picnic tables with cover, a very big large dog part and a nice separated little dog part. Both the large and small dog areas have obstacles for the dogs to play with, like little poles they can run around and tunnels.
HONEYMOON ISLAND PET BEACH
Note: The official rules on their website state dogs should be leashed. More details on on this pet beach are listed below in our section of Dog Beaches in Pinellas.
Dog Parks in Safety Harbor
SAFETY HARBOR CITY PARK DOG PARK
The dog park section of Safety Harbor City Park is located back by the Alligator Lake boat ramp. Park by the boat ramp and then you have to walk by the baseball fields to find it tucked in the corner. You won’t see it if you enter from the main entrance by the playground and baseball fields.
There were a few dogs there when we visited on a Saturday. The park has a large and small dog area, and a water station for cooling down.
NORTH CITY PARK DOG PARK
This is a very small dog park and isn’t worth a visit unless you live nearby and have a small dog. We were there on a day that the park was very busy but there was no one at the dog park.
PUBLIC WORKS DOG RUN
This dog park is a fenced in field behind the recycling center. It is bare bones (pun!) and was empty when we visited on a weekend afternoon. Probably not worth a visit unless you’re nearby (Safety Harbor City Park is a few minutes away and nicer).

MOBBLY PRESERVE BARK PARK
SHEFFIELD PARK

Dog Parks in Tarpon Springs
LIVE OAK RECREATION COMPLEX
We sat and watched the dogs run at this dog park for awhile when we visited the Tarpon Springs Splash Pad. The splash pad and dog park are right next to each other so this is a good family-friendly option.
The dog park was spacious and had little dog obstacles in it. It also had a watering station for the dogs.

Tip: When we go to Honeymoon Island on the weekend, we try to go early in the morning to beat the crowds..
