Florida Botanical Gardens

Florida Botanical Gardens is a 100-acre garden in Largo (it’s high on our list of favorite Largo activities). You could take a pretty stroller through the gardens. Or, if you have kids, check out the Majeed Discovery children’s garden, where your kids can run feral and mom can get a moment of peace.

The best part? The Florida Botanical Gardens are free!

Blueberry picking

Go u-pick blueberry picking as a family and then make mom a blueberry pie. Because who doesn’t love a pie.

U-pick blueberry season is April and May, so it’s perfect for Mother’s Day. Here’s our list of nearby u-pick blueberry farms close to Pinellas to help you find a spot.

‘Shop local’ Mother’s Day gift ideas

Finally, here are a few ‘shop local’ gift ideas for mom on Mother’s day.

Solo hotel night

One of my good friends asked for a night alone at a hotel for mother’s day and I still think about how genius that was a lot. Plus, since Pinellas is such a tourist destination, there’s no shortage of great local hotels to try.

House cleaning

Part of me hates listing house cleaning as a gift because it makes it sound like moms exclusively shoulder house cleaning responsibilities. But let’s be honest, who doesn’t love the feeling of a professional cleaning? It’s such a treat and it does lessen the work load at home.

Family photos

There are too many local photographers and photography styles to make specific photographer recommendations. However, we’re a part of many local parents Facebook groups and you’ll find lots of photographers advertising upcoming mini-sessions.

Local annual pass

Give the gift that keeps on giving with an annual pass or annual membership to a local museum or attraction. ZooTampa, Clearwater Marine Aquarium and Tarpon Aquarium are some of our favorites for get annual passes.
